Benefits of Free Government Phones

Unlike other cell phone plans, the LifeLine plan that includes a free government phone has no contract and it has no cost to qualified individuals.  This means that you can receive a free cell phone with free cell phone service and not have to worry about paying expensive cell phone bills each month.

Free Cell Phone Service Provided

With free cell phone service, qualified individuals can make and receive phone calls, text messages, and depending on the state you live in, you may qualify for free mobile data.   Qualified applicants can receive free government cell phones and free cell phone service for up to one year.  After the year is over, applicants must reapply to the LifeLine Program.

How to Qualify for a Free Government Cell Phone

To qualify for a free government cell phone, applicants must be of a low income status determined by each state or they must be receiving financial assistance from one of the major government sponsored programs.  These programs include, but are not limited to food stamps (SNAP), Medicaid, Free Lunch program for kids, or Federal Housing Assistance – Section 8.  Only one free cell phone line per household.

Fall into Savings with Budget Mobile

With cooler temperatures around the corner, there are a few money saving tips we want to share that can save you some money each month.  Most of these tips can be done yourself with no additional help, meaning you won’t have to pay a service person.

Seal those holes and cracks

When you turn your furnace on to provide some warmth, the last thing you want is for the warm air to sneak out the front door.  Sealing holes and cracks with weather stripping or caulk can keep your warm air inside and prevent it from getting outside.   These seals can save you up to 10% on your energy bill each year.

Set your Hot Water Heater Temperature

Many people often have their hot water heater temperatures in their home set too high.  Not only can this cost you a lot of extra money, but when the temperature is too hot, it can scold your skin.  Set your temperature on your hot water heater to 120 F or set it to low to prevent excess energy use.  If the water temperature out of the tap is a little low for you, you can always turn the dial up a little.  You’ll be amazing at the savings this can provide you!

Energy Audits

Not sure where you else you might be loosing money?  Energy audits are a great way to see where you can potentially save some money in your home.  Check with your local energy company as they often have rebates available for energy audits.

Save Money with Free Government Cell Phones

In addition to saving money on your home, you may also qualify for a free government cell phone including free cell phone service through Budget Mobile. This LifeLine cell phone program is setup to provide financial relief to low-income families who are having a hard time paying they monthly bills.  To see if you qualify for a free government cell phone, click here.
