Free Cell Phone and Minutes for Low Income Consumers

Lifeline phone service is available for low income consumers who qualify. You can receive a free cell phone and free minutes if you meet income guidelines or receive government benefits from a qualifying program. There are no credit checks, no contracts and no activation fees. Each state has its own guidelines, but you are typically eligible if you participate in the one of following programs.
  • Temporary Assistance to needy Families (TANF)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Senior Citizen Low-Income Discount Plan (offered by the local gas or power company)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
